Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

ABOUT THE HOP:

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

This week's question is:
Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?

This is a easy question for me as I have only re-discovered reading late last year.  I have also not ever read Paranormal books before, so all the authors I have been reading has been "new-to-me".  The one I want to mention, is Shelly Laurenston.  What a wonderful find she has been.  Love her books about shifters - her female characters are all very strong women and not afraid to take charge.

So click on the picture in this post and come join the fun.

Fast track to a Honeybun by Sam Cheever

Book 3 in the Honeybun Hunks series by Sam Cheever
Here is the blurb:
Sexy Indy car racer Warwicke Honeybun isn’t looking for love. But when he stumbles upon a beautiful woman being abused by a fellow driver one night, he wastes no time delivering a painful message to the man abusing her. Unfortunately, the man turns up dead the next day and the woman shows up on Warwicke’s doorstep covered in blood. Warwicke’s life gets eminently more complicated as he fights to protect her while working to clear her name; knowing all the while that she’s one of his fiercest competitors on the track.

Fabiana Maricruz hasn’t had time for men since she started competing in the male oriented sport of open wheel racing. She’s worked hard to overcome her rough beginnings as a Cuban-American living on the streets of the barrio. But now, somebody wants her to walk away from the sport she loves, and apparently they’ll do anything at all to make sure she does. Fortunately for her she has the Honeybuns on her side!

My thoughts:  My kindle tells me I am about 13% into the story (that's about the fifth chapter).  We have just experienced the first attempt on the couple's life and our heroine is about to take Warwicke to a part of town way out of his comfort zone.   Sparks might be flying very soon!  Can't wait.

Book review: Day by Day Armageddon by JL Bourne

Day by Day ArmageddonDay by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne

It's the end of the world as we know it (yes I know its a song too) as does the author when it features in one of the scenes in the book.

A virus has spread around the world and people are dying . . . and then coming back to life - well, a zombie life. It is a familiar theme in dystopian novels but this book makes it a little different by being in a diary format. It makes it even more chilling when we seem to skip events and then get to re-live if through the author's notes and writing after he has had a moment to orginazise his thoughts.

I admit I love "the-end-of-the-world" movies and books and this one kept me reading. I will be reading the sequel very soon.

This week's question is:
TELL US ABOUT THE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING!

I just bought book #3 in the Honeybun series FAST TRACK TO A HONEYBUN by Sam Cheever (online) this morning.  Just itching to load it to my kindle and get reading.  I love this series with the strong characters and funny dialoge.  I am sure this one will be a winner too :)  The series follow the lives of the Honeybun brothers and the stories feature lots of action, humor and romantic tension :)

Sharon's dolls

I spoke of my online friend, Sharon yesterday - she introduced me to Victoria Francis.  She makes beautiful miniature victorian dolls.  And (drum roll please!), she named one of the dolls after moi :)  Here she is . . . Chrizette, the Victorian Goth, inspired by a painting by Victoria Francis :)

Isn't she beautiful?  Here is the link - check out Chrizette - the doll

While you browse her site - don't forget to look at her other amazing work!  She even makes dollhouses!  You should see the little carpets she embroiders.  You will be jealous of her talent.

I can't even make full size dresses, I would never have the patience for these miniature ones - they are so beautiful and full of detail.  Here is the link to her site - Sharon Maggott's Mini's and more pictures:

Victoria Francis paintings

Isn't this a beautiful painting. It is done by Victoria Francis which I have just discovered through a online friend, Sharon.

Victoria Francis does gothic pictures, some vampire inspired ones and then some that is a little too much for me - but taste differs. Google her name and you will see what I mean :)

Something different.

Isn't this one beautiful?
